Senior guard D'Juan Baker didn't start for the second time in three games Sunday because of a sore knee that has limited his practice time.
If he continues to play this way on the road, though, it might become a strategic move during the remaining three games of the four-game trip.
He was 1-of-5 from the field in 16 minutes of UC's 67-65 loss to South Carolina. In six road games, Baker has shot 15-of-45 from the field (.333), 4-of-18 from three-point range (.222) and averaged 8.2 points and 3.7 turnovers.
In home games, his numbers are: .459 from the field, .397 from three-point range, 16.0 points and 2.1 turnovers.
Heave-ho
While the Bearcats were taking a break from Conference USA competition, they slipped into first place in the American Division.
UNC Charlotte lost to Memphis Saturday and slipped to 6-1, a half-game back of UC and its 7-1 league mark.
Half-great
South Carolina was 6-of-30 from the field, including 1-of-8 from three-point range in the first half.
In the second half, they were 15-of-24 from the field and 7-of-11 from three-point range.
Really foul shooting
The Bearcats ranked second in C-USA in free throw shooting at .691 entering Thursday's game against Louisville.
But they were 19-of-33 in the Louisville game, and a disastrous 9-of-19 against South Carolina.
