ESPN is coming to Nippert Stadium for the first time.

The University of Cincinnati football team has moved its Saturday, Nov. 7 game against East Carolina to Thursday night, Nov. 5 for an ESPN national telecast (8 p.m.).

UC had been awaiting the outcome of negotiations between ESPN and Fox, which owns the national TV rights to UC home games.

It marks the first time ESPN will do a football game at UC in the cable network's 20-year history. UC football has been on ESPN twice, in a 1997 game at East Carolina and 1994 at Indiana.

"We're thrilled that ESPN is coming here," UC Athletic Director Bob Goin said. "This is a positive move that's going to be good for the university, the city and the football program."

UC will also be on ESPN2 this year, at Syracuse on Oct. 10.

Because of the East Carolina-ESPN schedule switch, UC will move its Homecoming festivities back one week to Nov. 14, when Houston visits.
