UC's Martin leads U.S. into semis

CALVIA, Spain The United States, sparked by Cincinnati Bearcat Kenyon Martin, defeated Canada 87-82 in the quarterfinals of the World University Games Saturday night.
The United States, winner of five straight gold medals, will play Mexico at 2 p.m. (EDT) today. Other semifinal: Spain vs. Yugoslavia.
Martin scored eight of his team-high 19 points during a 23-7 run to open the second half.
UC teammate Pete Mickeal had nine points and a game-high three steals.
Ohio State's Scoonie Penn had six assists and committed only one turnover in 27 minutes.
