It's official: Harper will join Bearcats

BY MIKE DeCOURCY
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Cincinnati Bearcats completed their fall recruiting class when they received a signed letter of intent from shooting guard Jerome Harper of Columbia, S.C.

Harper, who is 6-foot-6, 195 pounds, committed to UC following the adidas ABCD Camp in July. Harper averaged 19 points and eight rebounds as a junior at Keenan High last season. At the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas last summer, he averaged 26.3 points and made eight 3-pointers in one game. In a game at ABCD, he was 11-of-11 from the field, including five 3-pointers.

In the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, recruiting analyst Brick Oettinger praises Harper's ability to shoot off the dribble, from long distance and mid-range, and says, “All the tools are present for future collegiate stardom, assuming he gets his academics in order.”

Harper began his senior year at Washington College Academy in Limestone, Tenn., where he did summer-school work to add to his core credits. He left the school early this semester, though, and returned home to attend Keenan.
