UC women win NIT opener

PITTSBURGH The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team avenged a last-second loss to Pittsburgh in the regular season by beating the Panthers in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament Thursday.
The Bearcats won 76-60 at Pitt's Fitzgerald Field House and were led by Madinah Slaise's 32 points.
UC held Pitt to 32 percent shooting from the field, including 3-of-18 from 3-point range.
The Bearcats play Michigan State in the second round at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Shoemaker Center. Admission is free.
