UC has shot at another bowl
INDIANAPOLIS Conference USA and the Big 12 will provide teams for a new college football bowl game, the galleryfurniture.com Bowl in Houston.
The new game was certified by the NCAA, along with the Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose, bringing the toal of bowl games to 25.
The Houston game will be played Dec. 27 in the Astrodome. It will have a payout of $750,000.
C-USA, which includes the University of Cincinnati, has contracts to provide teams to three other bowls.
Another new bowl game, the New Orleans Bowl, received initial certification for the 2001-02 season, the NCAA said. The game's representatives must go before the subcommittee again a year from now before winning final approval.
