UC defense dominates scrimmage
The University of Cincinnati's first-team defense held the offense scoreless in all eight possessions Saturday in the Bearcats' first scrimmage at West Harrison, Ind.
UC's second-team defense allowed just one TD in 10 series and scored its own touchdown, a 28-yard interception return by safety Frank Lang.
I have to give credit to our defense, coach Rick Minter said. They came out and did some really good things.
Tackle Mario Monds has two sacks, four tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Defense end Antwaan Peek (Woodward) had three tackles for loss.
Tailback Ray Jackson, a Michigan transfer, had 77 yards on seven carries, including a 15-yard touchdown. Sophomore tailback DeMarco McCleskey had 53 yards on 13 carries. Quarterback Deontey Kenner was 9-of-19 for 101 yards and no interceptions.
