Ticket info, travel packages for UC fans

UC has sold about 1,500 of its 8,000-ticket allotment for the Motor City Bowl. That figure reflects an initial rush by Bearcats loyalists when tickets first went on sale two weeks ago, said UC football coach Rick Minter. Now comes the push to attract other buyers.

“We want to encourage our fans to buy those tickets up and come on out and watch us play,” Minter said.

Letters were mailed at the end of last week to UC boosters and alumni. Efforts also are underway to attract some of the 2,000 UC alumni who live within a 40-mile radius of Detroit.

Corporations in Greater Cincinnati have also been contacted to lend their support.

Tickets are $38 apiece. The school has a travel package for students, and both Provident Travel and Traveleaders have packages available for other fans.

“It's an investment in our kids, our program, our university,” Minter said. “It's an investment in our future.”

Tickets may be purchased at the UC ticket offices at Shoemaker Center or by calling 556-2287.

Students who want to drive to the game can get lodging and game ticket for $60.
