The biggest shocker in Conference USA last week was Marquette's 69-49 victory at DePaul on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (6-5, 1-0), who play host to the University of Cincinnati on Wednesday night, are tied with the Bearcats atop the American Division. They also play at No.9 North Carolina on Saturday.

“I just hope we can come out and keep building on what we've done and keep having some confidence in our ability to defend and do the things that we want to do,” Marquette coach Tom Crean said.

After trailing by two at halftime, the Golden Eagles ended DePaul's four-game winning streak and held the league's No.2 scoring team 31 points below its average.

Marquette totaled the most field goals (30) ever under second-year coach Crean while shooting a sea son-best .508 from the field. The Golden Eagles also tied their season-high with 19 assists and had a season-low seven turnovers.

The ninth-ranked team in C-USA in 3-point percentage coming in, Marquette went 8-of-16 from behind the arc and is 15-of-27 over its past two games.

The Bearcats (10-3, 1-0) have won two straight and three of four against Marquette, but are 2-3 in Milwaukee since the start of Conference USA.

Senior Brian Wardle, 14th on Marquette's all-time scoring list, is coming off a season-high 27 points at DePaul, making him C-USA Player of the Week

In two games against UC last season, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds and scored 28 at Marquette.

“He's good against everybody, he's not just good against us,” UC coach Bob Huggins said.
