Judge recuses self from Little case
By Michael Perry
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Donald Little, the former University of Cincinnati center who was dismissed from the basketball team in May, will appear before Hamilton County Municipal Judge Timothy Black on Tuesday on an assault charge.
Judge John Burlew recused himself from Little's case Wednesday because he knew a witness for the defense.
Judge Burlew told the Enquirer that knowing the witness was the only reason he recused himself.
He said it had nothing to do with public criticism over his representation of former Bearcats Ruben Patterson and Art Long as a defense attorney.
Judge Burlew became a judge in February.
Little is facing a misdemeanor assault charge. He is accused of kicking an employee in the ribs at In the Woods Tavern in May.
