Make first team; IU fires Cameron

The Cincinnati Enquirer and The Associated Press

University of Cincinnati wide receiver LaDaris Vann and defensive lineman Antwan Peek (Woodward) were selected to the all-Conference USA first team Wednesday, while offensive lineman DeWayne Johnston and punter Adam Wulfeck (Beechwood) made the second team.

Honored on the all-freshman team were quarterback Gino Guidugli (Highlands), offensive lineman Kyle Takavitz, defensive lineman Andre Frazier (Hughes) and defensive back Doug Monoghan (Colerain).

Southern Miss placed a league-high five players on the all-league freshman team; Cincinnati, Tulane and UAB had four each.

The Bearcats' selections were headed by Guidugli, who posted a 7-3 record in games he played in. He ranks second among the nation's freshmen in completions (18.7 per game), fourth in total offense (249.8) and fifth in passing efficiency (154.9). Guidugli has thrown for 2,573 yards and 16 touchdowns and passed for more than 300 yards on four occasions.

Louisville's Dave Ragone, a junior, was the first-team all-league quarterback, and East Carolina senior David Garrard was the second-teamer.

C-USA will announce its freshman of the year today.
