Women: UC 77, ECU 52

King goes 6-for-6 on 3-pointers in win over East Carolina

The Associated Press

Valerie King scored 28 points and made all six of her 3-point attempts as Cincinnati defeated East Carolina 77-52 at Shoemaker Center Friday night and snapped a two-game losing streak.

King's six 3-pointers tied a school record. She scored 19 of the Bearcats' first 21 points.

K.B. Sharp had 11 assists for the Bearcats (12-2, 1-1 Conference USA), and Debbie Merrill added 14 points.

Cincinnati made 64 percent of its field-goal attempts in the first half (16-of-25) and 53 percent overall (27-of-51). The Bearcats were 5-of-5 on 3-point attempts in the first half — all by King.

Ayana McWilliams scored 12 points and Angela Willis had 10 to lead the Pirates (3-11, 1-1). But ECU was hurt by 24 turnovers, including six by McWilliams.
