100th victory next for Logan

Will be third Bearcat player to win as many

By Michael Perry
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Steve Logan often has said he will do anything to help his team win. It has worked 99 times, to be exact.

If the University of Cincinnati beats East Carolina tonight, the senior guard will have appeared in 100 Bearcats victories, tying school and Conference USA records shared by Keith Gregor and Bobby Brannen.

“I've been around a long time,” Logan said. “I don't really count the wins, I just go out and play.”

On Monday, Logan was named C-USA player of the week for the third time this season. He averaged 26 points and five assists in wins at Saint Louis and South Florida.

Logan is just the fourth player in league history to win the honor at least three times in one season.

Logan was selected national player of the week by FOXSports.com.

With 13 points, Logan will move past Ron Bonham (1,666 points), who is in fifth place on UC's all-time scoring list. Logan is also fourth in career assists (372).

Logan and Oscar Robertson (2,973 points, 425 assists) will be the only Bearcats among the top five in career scoring and assists. Logan is also third in career 3-point field goals (221) and first in free throw percentage (.856).

“It's amazing,” coach Bob Huggins said. “Years from now, when people start looking at the record books, certainly Oscar's going to be the main name everyone looks for, but Logan's going to be in everything.”
