Huggins bides time in talks
WVU finalizing offer to UC coach

The Cincinnati Enquirer
Ever since Bob Huggins returned to Cincinnati after talking with West Virginia officials about the school's vacant basketball coach's job, several media outlets have reported that the Bearcats coach was waiting to see if UC would match WVU's offer.
As it turns out, Huggins may have been waiting to see if West Virginia's formal proposal would measure up to his situation at Cincinnati.
Meetings between West Virginia officials and Steve Farmer, a West Virginia-based lawyer representing Huggins, began Friday and continued Saturday in Morgantown as the school worked to finalize an offer to Huggins. When contacted Saturday night by the Charleston Gazette, all Farmer would say is, I got nothing.
Bret Adams, Huggins' Columbus-based lawyer, said Saturday that he could not comment on what was taking place in West Virginia.
Huggins did not return a message left at his home.
UC athletic director Bob Goin could not be reached.
Huggins and Goin met in person Saturday in Cincinnati, UC sports information director Tom Hathaway confirmed, but Goin told Hathaway he could not reveal details of their discussion.
Huggins and Goin on Friday denied several Internet reports that said Huggins had decided to leave Cincinnati for the WVU job.
They both also denied that Huggins was asking UC for anything to encourage him to stay.
Goin told the Enquirer on Friday night, There has been no (West Virginia) offer to even look at.
Hathaway has said Huggins' total annual package at UC, with incentives, is worth more than $1.3 million.
Huggins has been considered the leading candidate for the West Virginia job since Feb.14, the day Gale Catlett resigned as coach.
On Thursday, an airplane carrying a banner reading, Bobby, Please Help! WVU fans flew over Cincinnati.
