University of Cincinnati quarterback Gino Guidugli didn't suffer any major damage to his left knee Saturday when a Tulane lineman rolled into him.
Guidugli left the game with a bone bruise. It is still too early to tell if he will play Saturday at Southern Miss, UC sports medicine director Bill Walker said.
"He is truly day-to-day," Walker said. "We've got him on crutches right now as a preventive measure. How serious it is, we're not going to know for a couple of days. It is painful, though."
Walker said the bruises are on Guidugli's femur and tibia.
"He could have had a lot more damage than he did," Walker said.
Guidugli was injured in the fourth quarter of the Bearcats' 35-17 loss when he misfired on a pass over the middle. A UC lineman knocked down a Tulane defender, who rolled into Guidugli and twisted the Bearcats quarterback to the ground.
George Murray finished the game at quarterback for UC (2-4, 1-1 C-USA).
Guidugli was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year after last season when he threw for 2,573 yards and 16 touchdowns. This season, he has thrown for more than 300 yards on four occasions, setting a UC career mark with seven 300-yard games.
He had passed for 245 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions before the injury.
