Former Cincinnati Bearcats basketball player B.J. Grove - whose real name is John L. Grove - was arrested early Saturday and charged with three weapons offenses after police said he fired a gun into the air.
Grove, 21, of South Fairmount, is accused of discharging a firearm, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon.
The University of Cincinnati student was released from the Hamilton County Justice Center Saturday evening after posting $510 bond.
Police say he fired a gun at 12:44 a.m. in the 2600 block of Van Street in Corryville. Officers heard the shots and pulled over Grove's gold, 1981 Cadillac Seville about two blocks away.
After officers saw a Smith & Wesson .357 revolver lying on the car's floor by the driver's seat, Grove admitted to firing the weapon, records show. Grove played for UC from 1999 to 2002.
