Valerie King scored a school- and Conference USA-record 46 points as Cincinnati defeated Charleston Southern 105-60 on Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena.
The previous school scoring mark was 41 points, shared by Cheryl Cook and Linda Norwell. King also surpassed Melvin Levett's arena record-41 points in leading UC to 3-1 this season.
"I didn't know about (the records) until the coaches told me. I didn't do it myself; there were a lot of people out there that helped me," said King, who made 16 of 20 field goal attempts, including seven of eight 3-point tries.
The Bearcats scored 38 points off turnovers, and Charleston Southern (1-1) shot 35 percent from the field for the game.
Debbie Merrill scored 17 points, Treasure Humphries scored 14 points and Anne Stephens added 12 for the Bearcats.
But King, whose former career high was 39 points against Butler in 2001, stole the show.
"It's a great statement on the hard work she did this summer," UC coach Laurie Pirtle said. "She scores in so many different ways now. She would not have broken the record without the work she did this summer."
NKU 81, Findlay 66
Sharell Snardon scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Northern Kentucky in Regents Hall.
Elizabeth Burrows added 14 points and nine assists as NKU, ranked No. 10 in the NCAA Division II poll, handed Findlay (3-1) its first loss.
NKU (2-1) enters Great Lakes Valley Conference play against Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m. Saturday in Regents Hall.
