University of Cincinnati football coach Mark Dantonio has hired a staff of assistants that includes Miami University's former defensive coordinator, one holdover from former coach Rick Minter's staff and five coaches who have coached on national championship teams.
Pat Narduzzi, whose Miami RedHawks defense was ranked first last year in the Mid-American Conference, will serve as UC's defensive coordinator.
Miami grad Don Treadwell, a member of Minter's UC staff in 1994, will return to the school as the offensive coordinator. He served in the same role last year at Ball State, where his offense set new school records for passing yardage. Also:
Harlon Barnett, defensive backs. A former first-team All-American at Michigan State, Barnett played seven seasons in the NFL. He spent five seasons as an assistant at Princeton High School. Last season, Barnett was a member of the defensive coaching staff for 2003 national champion LSU.
Dan Enos, quarterbacks. Enos spent 2003 as offensive coordinator at North Dakota State, where his team's offense averaged 30.9 points per game.
Ted Gill, defensive line. The lone holdover from the 2003 Bearcat staff, Gill joined the UC staff in 2003 after serving as defensive coordinator for the CFL Montreal Alouettes in 2002.
Tim Hinton, running backs. Hinton has served as head football coach at Marion Harding High for the past 11 seasons, winning five league championships and making five trips to the state Division I playoffs over the past six years.
Mark Staten, tight ends and recruiting coordinator. Staten, another Miami grad, is entering his sixth season as an assistant coach. He spent the last two seasons working with the offensive line and tight ends as a grad assistant at OSU.
Mike Tressel, linebackers and special teams. Tressel, nephew of Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, spent the last two years working with linebackers and defensive backs at OSU.
Jeff Uhlenhake, offensive line. Uhlenhake joined the Ohio State's staff in the spring of 2003.
Treadwell, Tressel, Staten, Uhlenhake and Barnett have coached on national championship teams.
