Keck gets special honor

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Cincinnati junior Tinker Keck was named Conference USA football special teams player of the year, in balloting by league coaches and media.

Keck tied NCAA records for punt return touchdowns in a season (four) and one game (two, vs. Louisville). He ranked eighth nationally with a 14.7-yard return average.

Other C-USA awards:

  • Offensive player of the year - Shaun King, Tulane QB

  • Defensive player - Patrick Surtain, Southern Mississippi CB

  • Top freshman - Jason McKinley, Houston QB

  • Coach of the year - Jeff Bower, Southern Miss.
