Elder makes state finals
Elder handed No. 1 ranked and previously undefeated Columbus Brookhaven a 68-50 beating in the Ohio Division I semifinals at Columbus Friday night. The game was watched by a tournament record crowd of 17,421, including thousands of Elder's loyal, vocal fans.

Elder foe is scoring machine
With an enrollment of just 481 boys, Columbus Brookhaven is the smallest Division I school remaining in the boys state basketball tournament. But the 26-0 Bearcats, ranked No.1 in Ohio, are a scoring machine, averaging 83.9 points a game and allowing an average of 51.2.
Boys Division II All-Ohio team
Two Greater Catholic League North players who led their teams into the regional tournament were named to the Associated Press Division II Boys All-Ohio second team.
Boys Division III All-Ohio team
Mariemont's Branden Fisher, a 6-3 senior who averaged 21.3 points, was named to the all-Ohio second team by Associated Press. Teammate Bret Underwood, a 6-4 senior who averaged 16.2 points, was third team.

Elder hero had unlikely start
Four years ago, Elder cut Jake Bazeley from its freshman basketball team. On Saturday night, the senior point guard, scored the winning basket with 1.4 seconds remaining in the Panthers' 58-57 overtime victory over Western Hills in the regional semifinals.
