David Wells is editorial page editor for the Cincinnati Enquirer. He joined the newspaper as a reporter in 1974 after graduating with a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University. He moved to the Editorial Page in 2000, and was named editor of the department in December 2002. He writes editorials and a weekly column. Before that, he spent 26 years as a reporter and editor on the Local News Desk, where he covered everything from a visit by Mother Teresa to the conviction of a serial killer nicknamed "The Angel of Death.''

"My column is a chance to say what I think, which may, or may not, be consistent with the Enquirer's position. It may make you angry or it may make you happy. I hope that it at least makes you think.''
