PT Patty goes for nostalgic look

Patty Long of Pleasant Ridge loves the color and style of her 2003 PT Cruiser. The "EW 1" license plate, which her father, Earl Winter, got in the 1930s, remains in the family today.

Patty Long is a 74-year-old retiree from the U.S. Census Bureau and grandmother living in Pleasant Ridge. These days, she's known as PT Patty - ever since she bought a cranberry 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

"The minute I saw it I just wanted it.

"I liked the color and the style, and I bought it.

"It reminds me of an older car like when I first started driving."

Even though the PT Cruiser is small, Long says, "It's great, has every feature, more than I need. Plenty of room for four and gas mileage is good."

"My children say I look like the Mafia!

"At this stage of life why not enjoy!"

Mona L. Bronson-Fuqua

Her first car: "My father bought me a 1934 black Chevy sedan."

Her next car: "I doubt if I'll get one. I just bought this one in May. What I'd like to have is a VW convertible. I almost bought one this time."
