Baseball stunned
by $55 M deal


Albert Belle's $55 million contract sent shock waves through baseball Tuesday. Not only did it give the White Sox two of the game's best power hitters and superiority in the AL Central Division, it struck a hard blow to the Indians and their fans, stunned other owners and made baseball union leaders wonder why White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf opposed the tentative labor agreement. How about that, Jerry? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em?
