Get ready, Cincinnati.

The 1997 NCAA Women's Final Four is coming.

A week of fans and festivities, bashes and basketball culminates in the national semifinals Friday and national championship game Sunday at Riverfront Coliseum. All games sold out last March.

The semifinals pit Old Dominion (33-1) vs. Stanford (34-1) at 7 p.m., followed by the Cinderella team, Notre Dame (31-6), vs. defending champion Tennessee (27-10).

Tennesee knocked off top-ranked and undefeated Connecticut 91-81 in the Midwest Regional Monday night.

The first team to qualify Monday was the least likely: Notre Dame, the No. 6 seed in the East region, beat George Washington 62-52. Old Dominion followed with a 53-51 victory over Florida in the Mideast Region, and Stanford routed Georgia 82-47 in the West.

Notre Dame, the first No. 6 seed to reach the Final Four since 1994, is playing in its first Final Four.

For the Irish, coming to Cincinnati is like coming home.

''At least we can get there in one airplane ride,'' said ND coach Muffet McGraw, whose team has traveled to Texas and South Carolina for the first two rounds. ''It will be nice.''
