Here are key points of the dispute between Hamilton County and the Reds over a new stadium.
LOCATION:
The county says the new ballpark will be built on a site chosen by the county and approved by the team. It specifically describes two options - a riverfront site between Riverfront Coliseum and Cinergy Field, known as Baseball on Main or "The Wedge," and the site at Broadway and Reading Road, known as Broadway Commons. The team says the ballpark will be built on a "site on the riverfront that is mutually acceptable" to the two sides, which means The Wedge. The team also requires the county to do a study of the site that would have to meet the team's approval before the rest of the agreement would kick in.
COST:
The county proposed a $220 million stadium, a price that doesn't include land, parking or demolition but does include "soft" costs, such as architectural and design fees.
The team proposed a $235 million stadium - a price based on the year 2000, and which would increase with inflation if the stadium isn't finished by then. That figure doesn't include land, parking, demolition or "soft" costs.
CONTRIBUTIONS:
The county outlines the team's contribution to the project as: continuing a 25-cent ticket surtax; $1.5 million in rent yearly for the first 10 years of a 30-year lease with no rent after that; the first $5 million in naming rights (the team would keep the next $5 million and after that any naming rights revenues would be split 50-50); the following revenues, which the county expects to total $25 million: revenues from the sale of Charter Ownership Agreements (COAs), all payments from designated concessionaire, all revenues from private suite sales, broadcast and signage rights received before construction.
The Reds outline the team's contribution as: continuing a 25-cent ticket surtax and $2.5 million in rent yearly for the first 10 years of a 30-year lease with $1 a year for the rest of the 30-year lease. The team then offers an option for the rest: $30 million made up of any combination of concessionaire fees, sale of luxury suites, COAs, stadium naming rights, advertising, broadcast and signage fees; or the county could keep all revenues from stadium naming rights. It is unclear whether COAs would be sold if the county took the naming rights option.
