Burbank to end national show

BY JOHN KIESEWETTER
The Cincinnati Enquirer

It's official: Gary Burbank is staying put - and saying goodbye to his nationally syndicated daily radio show after 2 1/2 years.

The prolific WLW-AM (700 kHz) humorist informed his 70 affiliates Wednesday that he'll end his national Broadbank Burbcasting Company show Nov. 28.

Mr. Burbank, 56, will resume doing more local topics on the Jacor station this fall, as Cincinnati's City Council races heat up. His best bits - which air here 8-11 a.m. Saturdays - will be syndicated through Jacor's Premiere Radio Networks division and to some of Jacor's 150 stations.

"This keeps WLW-AM happy and Jacor happy," says Rick Consolo, Broadbank Burbcasting Company manager. "And it keeps Gary happy because he'll be able to do other things" like recording an Earl Pitts singing album in Nashville with pals Sandy Pinkard and Richard Bowden.

Mr. Consolo will continue to oversee BBC weekend syndication through Jacor.
