Let's get stupid! David Letterman's Late Show will hold Cincinnati auditions for his "Stupid Pet Tricks" and "Stupid Human Tricks" segments April 25-26.
The Late Show invites anyone with a "fun, unique and safe" pet or human stunt to call CBS toll-free, (888) 738-8745, and describe their talent.
Late Show producer Ben Zelevansky will selectively contact callers and schedule more than 100 private auditions that weekend. "We can eliminate a lot of them because they're doing tricks we've already seen on the show," he says. "The best tricks are the ones that people come up with themselves, that are original and funny."
Past Late Show tricks have included a horse that fetches a water bottle from a refrigerator, a dog that attacks a pinball machine and a woman who bulges out her eyes.
The most impressive Tristate tricksters could appear on the Late Show (11:35 p.m. weekdays, Channels 12, 7) anytime in the next year. Mr. Zelevansky, who receives hundreds of "Stupid" calls a week, expects an enthusiastic response in Cincinnati, where Mr. Letterman's show routinely beats NBC's Tonight Show.
"We love to come to a city where they get Dave, understand the humor and know the show," he said.
