Stock-options tax repeal to get hearing

A public hearing has been scheduled for 11 a.m. May 5 on the proposal to repeal the city's 2.1 percent earnings tax on stock options. While a majority of council gave preliminary approval to repeal the tax on stock options, a popular form of compensating corporate executives, Councilman Tyrone Yates and local labor have objected to the measure.

City officials and representatives of Cincinnati's business community are pushing to repeal the tax, saying it might hurt the city's chances of retaining and luring companies.

The hearing will be at City Hall, 801 Plum St., in the council chambers.
