NEWPORT -- A car reported stolen early Friday morning ended up over the side of a bridge minutes later in an accident that killed a Latonia man.

Ronnie Griffith, 19, was killed when the car he was driving crossed into the opposite lane of the Shortway Bridge, jumped a metal guard rail and broke through a wooden fence. It then fell 25 feet or more to an alley below, where it bounced and landed in a large tool shed.

The other occupant of the car, a juvenile, remained unidentified later Friday. He was taken to University Hospital by Air Care helicopter. He was in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.

The accident was reported at 5:08 a.m. The car had been reported stolen about eight minutes earlier in Covington, according to a statement from Newport Police Capt. Robbie Hall.
