In the spirit of Earth Day, which officially is Wednesday, Jim Borgman's editorial cartoons are being recycled.
The Enquirer's Pulitzer-prize winning editorial cartoonist will have a collection of 25 previously published cartoons, each focusing on environmental concerns, displayed today only in the rotunda of Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal.
The Jim Borgman Recycled exhibit will be part of the day-long Earth Celebration by the student group One Earth One People.
"The satisfaction for me is in seeing these cartoons on a single topic pulled together to make a stronger statement than they do individually," Mr. Borgman says. "I've always been proud of that (environmental) theme that runs through my work."
At 5 p.m., Mr. Borgman will be thanked by the city for contributing to environmental awareness. Afterward, he will autograph print reproductions of his cartoons.
The exhibit is a collaboration among Mr. Borgman, the Cincinnati Office of Environmental Management and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Academy students designed and built the exhibit using mostly reused, recycled and scrap materials.
Next week, the exhibit will be on display during the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable Conference at the Hyatt Regency, downtown.
