3 people injured in I-71 accident

SILVERTON -- Three people sustained minor injuries Friday morning when a pickup truck hit a disabled car in the center lane of northbound Interstate 71 just south of Stewart Road in Silverton.

The lone occupant of a 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck struck the rear of a disabled Isuzu car with two people inside. All three people were transported to area hospitals, but none of the injuries is thought to be serious, police said.

The names of those involved are not being released, and the accident remains under investigation.

Emergency crews were called to the scene about 9:40 a.m., and northbound I-71 was closed for about half an hour. Firefighters from Silverton, Deer Park and Golf Manor were on the scene for about 45 minutes.

Alleged variety show prankster jailed

The alleged prankster accused of releasing a chemical irritant during a variety show Thursday night at Oak Hills High School was being held in jail Friday in lieu of $14,000 bond.

Christopher Mushrush, 18, of Green Township, who is not a student at the school, faces charges of inducing panic and four counts of assault.

Streets closing for WalkAmerica

The following streets and bridges will be closed from 8 a.m. until noon Sunday for the 1998 March of Dimes WalkAmerica:

Pete Rose Way between Eggleston Avenue and Broadway; Broadway between Pete Rose Way and Fourth Street; Third Street between Sycamore Street and Broadway; Taylor - Southgate Bridge between Cincinnati and Newport; Clay Wade Bailey Bridge between Cincinnati and Covington; Third Street between Gest Street and Central Avenue.

Stamp replica goes to local groups

The Postal Service today will present an enlarged replica of the recently released Cinco de Mayo stamp to organizations that represent the more than 12,000 Hispanics who live in the Tristate. The presentation will be at 12:50 p.m. at the Latin American Culture Fest at the Museum Center in Union Terminal.

The Postal Service printed 85 million stamps to commemorate the holiday that celebrates the victory of Mexican troops over the French at the Battle of Puebla. The Postal Service issued the stamp April 16 in joint ceremonies in San Antonio, Texas, and Mexico City. It went on sale April 17.

Lincoln Heights man held in assault case

A Lincoln Heights man who allegedly made threats against officers also is accused of using his baby as a shield against police.

Scott Gordon, 29, is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center pending charges of assault on a police officer, child endangering, inciting to violence and resisting arrest.

Mr. Gordon was arrested Thursday evening. The incident allegedly happened March 26.

Boy Scouts food drive

INDIAN HILL -- Indian Hill Boy Scout Troop 502 will canvass the area Sunday to collect for the United Food and Clothing Drive.

Please put donations in a paper or plastic bag and leave them on your porch, or possibly at the end of very long driveways.

Items may also be dropped off at any Kroger store.
