Possible tornadoes spotted near Wilmington, agencies say

WILMINGTON -- Several agencies reported sightings of funnel clouds Sunday night and a possible touchdown near Ohio 380 and U.S. 22 - Ohio 3 in Clinton County as a cell of severe thunderstorms passed through the area.

A dispatcher at the Ohio Highway Patrol post in Wilmington said there were reports of "structural damage to a home and couple of barns on Ohio 380, a mile north of U.S. 22." No injuries were reported, the dispatcher said.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Department also received a report of a funnel cloud sighted near the intersection of Ohio 380 and U.S. 22. The National Weather Service in Wilmington said it received reports of possible funnel cloud touchdowns in Clinton County in Wilmington, the community of Cuba and near the intersection of Ohio 380 and U.S. 22.

An investigation of any damage will have to be completed before there's a official determination of whether a tornado hit the area, the weather service said.
