FLORENCE -- A state representative and two local educators will hold some of the top administrative positions in Boone County Schools this year.
The school board on Thursday approved the hirings to fill two principal positions, two central office jobs and several assistant principal positions.
All but one person hired currently works in the district.
Information on salaries was not available because compensation rates were not finalized.
Mike Hibbett, principal at Conner Middle School, will become assistant superintendent. He will start Monday. Mr. Hibbett replaces Roger Brady, who left the Boone County system to become superintendent of Campbell County Schools.
Joe Humbert, former public information officer for the Florence Police Department, will become the district's transportation director. He will start July 27. He replaces Carl Howard, who retired earlier this year.
Michael Sander, principal at Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, will become principal at Boone County High. Mr. Sander is returning to Boone County, where he previously served as an assistant principal. He'll start Monday. Mr. Sander replaces William F. Baker, who retired at the end of the school year.
And Charlie Walton, a teacher at Ockerman Middle School, will become principal at Florence Elementary. He replaces Ralph Rush, who retired at the end of the school year after 24 years as principal. Mr. Walton, Republican state representative from Florence, will start as principal Monday.
The district will conduct a search for a principal at Conner Middle School, Superintendent Bryan Blavatt said. Conner Middle's assistant principal Linda Viox will serve as acting principal. The board also approved the hiring of five people to fill assistant and vice principal positions at Conner High School, Conner Middle School, R.A. Jones Middle School and Burlington Elementary.
