In the second set of the women's doubles finals, Lyndsey Molony got angry.
But even though she and her sister, Kara Molony, trailed 3-0 at the time, they didn't give up. Seven games later, the Molony sisters, the No. 1 seed, won the women's doubles champions at the Thomas E. Price Metropolitan Tennis Tournament. They beat No. 2 seed Pam Whitehead and Clare Krumme.
"I just got frustrated because it seemed like I couldn't get anything in," Lyndsey Molony said after the match.
"It seemed like she'd have a good shot, but they'd return it for a winner," Kara Molony said.
After Lyndsey Molony decided she wasn't going to give up, the two won four straight games to take the lead 4-3. Whitehead and Krumme won one more game before the Molony sisters took the last two games. Kara Molony, who won the women's singles championship, said she thought the match was going to go three sets, especially when Whitehead-Krumme took a 3-0 lead in the second set.
"I knew it was going to be close," Kara Molony said. "They are definitely two good players with experience."
Both Whitehead and Krumme have won the doubles tournament before but not with each other.
This is the first doubles championship for the Molonys.
"They had some really good shots," Lyndsey Molony said. "They were aggressive all over."
