Thirty-one teens will return today from a five-day trip down the Little Miami River.
The "Rivertrek" was sponsored by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's Project Intercept program and Morgan's Canoes Adventures in Learning program.
The teens started their trip Monday at Deer Creek.
They paddled more than 50 miles to a site near Beechmont Avenue, where a power boat met them to tow them to the public landing at the foot of Broadway.
Most of the teens experienced the river and learned to work as a team for the first time during the trip.
The teens camped, fished, swam, conducted macro-invertebrate sampling for the Global Rivers Environmental Education Network, played adventure games, visited Fort Ancient, toured the Loveland Castle, learned river skills, gained self-confidence and made new friends.
Among the 31 students were teen peer leaders who made a similar trip with the CRC last year and gained life skills as leaders this year.
