Police locate mom of abandoned tot

Cincinnati police have found the mother of a year-old boy abandoned Saturday.

Tina Tudor, 32, of Roselawn faces a child endangering charge. Her son, Marvin, has been placed in temporary custody of the Hamilton County Department of Human Services.

Ms. Tudor allegedly left him on Rockdale Avenue in Avondale on Saturday evening and never returned. Police publicized the boy's picture Monday and asked for help in finding his parents. Ms. Tudor flagged down officers on Rockdale Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.When officers asked how they could help, she told them she left her baby on Rockdale Avenue and didn't know where he was.

According to her police report, she told officers she left her baby alone while she went to smoke crack.

$50,000 bond set in alleged rape

Bond was set Tuesday at $50,000 cash for a nurse accused of raping a 78-year-old resident of a Price Hill nursing home.

A grand jury is the next step to determine whether Jeffrey Harmon, 47, of Clifton will be indicted on a rape charge. He is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

The nurse at Westside Health Care was arrested Monday. A witness told police he climbed on top of the woman and raped her.

Jury picked to hear double-slaying case

Opening statements are planned today in the murder trial of an Over-the-Rhine man accused of killing his new bride and her landlord last fall. Raymond Tibbetts of the Mohawk section of Over-the-Rhine faces the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery. His trial began Monday, with jury selection completed Tuesday afternoon.

The trial is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. today before Judge Patrick Dinkelacker in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.

Mr. Tibbetts is accused of killing Judith Crawford Tibbetts, 42, and Fred Hicks, the 67-year-old landlord she cared for. Their bodies were found Nov. 6, 1997, in their Mohawk home. They had been stabbed to death.

Charges filed; suspect on loose

Cincinnati police have filed two felony charges of aggravated vehicular assault against a man suspected of fleeing a serious accident.

Police have identified the driver who fled as Ervin Alford, 31, of Golf Manor, who had just been released from Talbert House, a halfway house.

Police say he ran just after 2:15 a.m. Friday, when he was driving south on Central Parkway, lost control and hit a utility pole near the Brighton approach ramp.

Two passengers were injured. Shnikqua Thomas, 23, of the West End was in fair condition, and Nicole Armstrong, 22, of Queensgate was in critical condition Tuesdayat University Hospital.

Mr. Alford is described as a 6-foot-2, 170-pound black man with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in the 6000 block of Ridgeacres.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the police division's traffic unit at 352-2514 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
