Suspected drug-ring leader not released

Thursday, August 20, 1998

BY BEN L. KAUFMAN
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Randall R. Neuhausser -- suspected of a leadership role in what federal authorities call a drug ring in Warren County -- has been refused bond.

Wednesday, assistant U.S. attorney William Hunt said the 44-year-old Mr. Neuhausser deserved pretrial detention because he was a ringleader who is danger to the community and likely to flee.

U.S. District Judge S. Arthur Spiegel agreed and put Mr. Neuhausser in pretrial detention.

Six others, including Mr. Neuhausser's wife, Sheila, 34, have been released on bond.

Federal authorities said the Union Township couple and their co-defendants used cars with secret compartments to distribute cocaine and marijuana in states including Florida, Nebraska, California, Nevada and Ohio.

All have pleaded not guilty.
