BATAVIA -- Fire and rescue issues will dominate the November ballot in Clermont County, with six of eight issues involving funding for such services. The filing deadline for fall ballot issues at the county elections board was 4 p.m. Thursday.
The two non-safety-related service issues involve a request of voters to permit Goshen Township trustees to seek grants to create a township park, and a five-year replacement levy of 1.4 mills for current operating expenses in the village of Amelia.
The six safety service issues are:
Monroe Township: A citizens group initiative seeks to eliminate a 6-mill levy passed in November 1997 for safety services.
Batavia: Voters will decide on replacing two existing levies with a single five-year, 2.4-mill levy for ambulance and emergency medical services.
Bethel-Tate Joint Ambulance District: An additional 1.3-mill, five-year levy will be decided. It would fund ambulance and emergency medical services.
North Batavia Fire District: A 2.4-mill continuing replacement levy will face voters to fund fire, ambulance and emergency medical services.
Stonelick Township: Voters will decide on a 2.5-mill additional and continuing levy for fire and ambulance services.
Wayne Township: An added 1-mill levy would be used for fire, ambulance and emergency medical services.
