Wendell G. Voss has been named vice president of research and development of United Refractories Co. Inc. of Sharonville and Pittsburgh. Mr. Voss received a Bachelor of Science degree in ceramic engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Case Western Reserve University. He has 50 years of experience in ceramics, primarily in the development and application of refractory materials.

Jim Foy has been named bids and contracts administrator at Superior Pharmaceutical Co., and Julia Struntz and Jon D. Hughes have been named corporate territory managers.

Lori Wagner has been named media buyer at Backley & Gingrich Advertising Inc. Ms. Wagner has been with the company since 1993. Erica Brown has joined Northlich Stolley LaWarre as direct marketing account assistant; Deb Piaseczynski has joined the company as account manager in account service and Curtis Ring as an assistant account manager in direct marketing.

Jill McBride has been appointed sales associate at Coldwell Banker West Shell's Montgomery office.

Drs. Robyn L. O'Brien and Rhonda R. Pfaff have joined Northern Kentucky Family Health Centers Inc. Dr. O'Brien, an internist, will see adult patients at the Newport Family Health Center, and Dr. Pfaff, a family practice physician, has joined the Dixie Pike Family Health Center in Covington.

David E. Szkutak has been appointed president and chief operating officer at U.S. Precision Lens Inc. Mr. Szkutak joined the company in 1984 as a manufacturing department manager. After successfully carrying out assignments in manufacturing, product development and sales, he became vice president of sales and marketing in 1990 and executive vice president in 1997. He has a degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master's degree in business from Xavier University.
