News, notes and events from the Northern Kentucky campaign trail:

Candidates for Campbell County district judge will be cookin' and jammin' Sunday to woo supporters and campaign funds.

Newport attorney Tom Beiting is holding a campaign cookout Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pompilio's restaurant at Sixth and Washington in Newport.

The cost is $20 a person and $30 a couple. Mr. Beiting said bratts, metts, hot dogs, side dishes and refreshments are on the menu.

Also on Sunday, incumbent Judge Michael "Mickey" Foellger of Fort Thomas is holding a fund-raiser and rally from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Thomasville Lodge on Ky. 8 in Dayton.

Mr. Foellger, an accomplished musician and songwriter, will provide live music along with Gary Devoto, Wild Blue Yonder, The Lusters, New Lime Revival and others.

Snodgrass holding fund-raiser:

Campbell County Clerk Jack Snodgrass is holding a fund-raiser Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilder home of State Rep. Jim and Diane Callahan.

Tickets are $25 a person. Mr. Snodgrass, a Cold Spring Democrat, is challenged by Republican Kenneth Lee Cole of Newport in the November election.

Guidugli raising money:

Steve Guidugli, candidate for Bellevue mayor, will hold a campaign fund-raiser 7 p.m. Saturday at the bed and breakfast he and his wife, Brenda, operate in Bellevue.

Christopher's Bed & Breakfast is at 640 Poplar St. Tickets are $10. For more information call 491-9438.

Mr. Guidugli, a member of Bellevue City Council, is challenging incumbent Mayor Tom Wiethorn.

Kramer kicks-off campaign:

Villa Hills Councilman Steve Kramer will hold a campaign kickoff and fund-raiser Sept. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event will be at the home of Bill and Joan Averdick, 2686 Pineview Drive in Villa Hills. Tickets are $20.

Campbell candidates holding fund-raisers:

National Basketball Association Hall of Famer Oscar "Big O" Robertson of Cincinnati will appear at a fund-raiser tonight for Campbell County Commissioner Bill Verst.

The $100-per-person event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Highland Country Club in Fort Thomas. The Verst family knows Mr. Robertson from businesses they jointly operated in the past.

Mr. Verst, a Wilder Democrat, is being challenged by Republican Keith Daniels of California in the election.

Mr. Daniels will hold a fund-raiser Saturday at 7 p.m. The event will be at his home on Smith Road in California next to the Eastern Campbell County Firehouse. Tickets are $35 a person.

Qualls crossing the river:

A number of Northern Kentucky women are planning a campaign fund-raiser for Cincinnati Mayor Roxanne Qualls, candidate in Ohio's First District Congressional race.

Ms. Qualls, a Democrat and Northern Kentucky native, is running against Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot in one of the nation's most hotly contested congressional elections.

A group calling itself Northern Kentucky Women for Qualls will host a fund-raiser and wine and cheese reception Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kenton County Commissioner Bernie Moorman's Amos Shinkle Mansion Bed & Breakfast, 215 Garrard St.

"While attending a fund-raiser for (Ms.) Qualls in Cincinnati, I heard presented a brilliant rationale for regional representation in Washington," said Lynn Harden, one of the event's organizers. "That's when I realized that even Northern Kentuckians have a stake in the Ohio 1st District election results."

Ms. Qualls' mother, Katheryn Qualls of Florence, and her sister, Donna Gerding of Erlanger, are expected to attend.

For more information call 956-1058.

Kenton GOP meeting:

The Kenton County Republican Party Executive Committee will meet Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the party's Fort Wright headquarters.

The headquarters is in office space at the Fort Wright Ramada Inn, 1939 Dixie Highway.

All registered Republicans are invited to attend. For more information, contact party chairman Greg Shumate at 291-7270.
