Miami U student found dead
Severe asthma may be the cause, coroner says

Tuesday, September 15, 1998

BY JANICE MORSE
The Cincinnati Enquirer

A 20-year-old Miami University student was found dead in his off-campus apartment Sunday, the apparent victim of a severe asthma attack. Greg Browne, of Sandusky, Ohio, was found by a roommate in his apartment on Foxfire Drive near the Miami campus. He was a sophomore majoring in biology, said Miami spokeswoman Holly Wissing.

Dr. Richard Burkhardt, Butler County coroner, has not made a formal ruling, but said Mr. Browne had a long history of asthmatic problems.

Mr. Browne was a 1997 graduate of Perkins High School, where he played football and golf. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky.

Surviving are his parents, Thomas and Deborah Browne, of Sandusky, one brother, Kenneth; grandparents, Joseph and Shirley Smith of Castalia.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. today at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be in Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron, Ohio.

Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
