Former PNC vice president files bias suit

Friday, September 18, 1998

The Cincinnati Enquirer

A former vice president sued Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank on Thursday, saying she was fired because of her age and sex.

Linda Lindsay's complaint, filed in U.S. District Court by attorney Robert A. Steinberg, seeks reinstatement and unspecified dollar damages.

Ms. Lindsay, of Fort Thomas, was fired last year; she was 48 and vice president for charitable and endowment management in the Cincinnati market.

Mr. Steinberg said her duties were taken over by a much younger woman and a man.

He said Ms. Lindsay "was told her performance was not the issue." Rather, Mr. Steinberg said, her position was being merged with one in Louisville, and she was not being offered the new job.

At the time, Mr. Steinberg said, his client was receiving favorable performance evaluations and exceeding annual sales goals. Jonathan Williams, national PNC vice president for media relations in Pittsburgh, said the bank would respond in court.
