3rd St. lane closures put off

Lane closures downtown on Third Street, originally scheduled to start today, won't start until Thursdaymorning.

The southern curb lane on Third Street between Vine and Walnut streets will close for four to six weeks. The next-most southern lane in that section will close as construction dictates so retaining walls and storm sewer systems can be built for the new Fort Washington Way.

After the initial closures, the same lanes will close between Race and Vine streets. The one- to two-block closures will continue along Third Street through February or March.

The city plans to keep three lanes open at all times.
