A man who appeared to be videotaping schoolchildren from his car has Price Hill parents and Cincinnati police on alert.
The man, who aimed his video camera at elementary students when they left school, has been questioned by police.
He has broken no law, Cincinnati Police Officer D. Johnson said, and officers "took all his information. If anything does occur, they will know to look for him."
Friday, St. Lawrence School Principal Mary DeBrunner sent a warning home with students.
"A suspicious person has been seen in the area of Olive and Wieman Avenues," Ms. DeBrunner wrote. "If he is seen in your area, you need to contact (police) immediately. Please discuss with your child the importance of going directly home and how to handle a situation when approached by a stranger."
Mellony Carter, a Price Hill parent, spent Sunday distributing warnings.
Fliers described the man as a white male, about 30 with blond hair and blue eyes and driving a 1991 silver, two-door Oldsmobile.
"He has been videotaping all around the neighborhood. I'm scared to death to let my kids out," Ms. Carter said. "He has done nothing wrong, and we are not trying to persecute him . . . . We are not on a witch hunt."
Dave Martini is a St. Lawrence parent who said he appreciated the school's proactive approach to spreading information about the videotaping. "It's a shame you have to do that . . . but I'm very pleased with the way the school handled it," he said.
