Body found in landfill

Friday, October 9, 1998

BY EARNEST WINSTON
The Cincinnati Enquirer

WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. -- Kentucky State Police discovered the body of a man in a Grant County landfill Thursday afternoon, but aren't saying much else about the discovery.

"I can't divulge the information right now," said Trooper Curtis Finley, public affairs officer for the Dry Ridge post.

Police discovered the body of an unidentified white male about 12:30 p.m. at Epperson Waste Disposal Inc., 615 Epperson Road. They think it was hauled there in a garbage truck from Lexington, Ky. The body may be that of a homeless man who fell asleep inside the truck.

The Lexington Police Department sent officers to the scene, but that department said it had no reports of missing persons on file that matched the description of the man.

Trooper Finley said police are investigating the incident, including details about how long the body was inside the truck, how it got there and the address of the victim.
