An Atlanta-based developer made a pitch Tuesday before some members of Cincinnati City Council to build between 600 and 1,000 housing units in the 20-acre area that has become known as Broadway Commons, where some would like to see a new Reds stadium.
John Mears, executive vice president of Atlanta-based Post Properties, talked about the possibilities for Broadway Commons before Cincinnati City Council's Neighborhood and Small Business Development Committee.
He envisions a development that would be almost exclusively rental property geared toward anyone from working professionals to "empty nesters."
Councilman Charlie Winburn denounced any notion that raising alternative plans for Broadway Commons was somehow dismissing Issue 11, a ballot measure asking the voters to create a county charter requiring any new Reds ballpark to be built at Broadway.
"This is about having . . . a "Plan B' for Broadway Commons," Mr. Winburn said.
The presentation was informational. The committee did not take any formal action.
