  • Name: Barb Uible, 46, of Indian Hill, wife and mother of three.

  • Occupation: A part-time coach for Cincinnati Country Day's middle school cross country team and a swim instructor at the Blue Ash YMCA.

  • Running experience: Mrs. Uible does 30 miles a week (6 miles five days a week). She and her 13-year-old daughter Lisa have participated in 5Ks and 10Ks together. Lisa, who would like to run the marathon with her mother, can't participate because runners must be at least 18 years old. However, mother and daughter will be training together.

  • Goal: To finish. "I'm not going for time; I'm going to finish. Walking will not be shameful."

  • Why run a marathon? "For the adventure of it. For me, it's a chance to go to another level of fitness," Mrs. Uible says.
