INDUSTRY NOTES: REAL ESTATE
Post office buys site in Mason

Thursday, October 15, 1998

BY PERRY BROTHERS
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The U.S. Postal Service has closed a $450,000 deal to buy a four-acre site in Mason.

The plans for the property include the construction of a 22,000-square-foot post office, but the Postal Service has declined to comment on the deal until construction contracts are signed.

Christopher Canarie, vice president of sales and marketing for Henkle Schuler & Associates, brokered the sale. The property, on U.S. 42 near Tylersville Road, was sold by Everybody's Farm Inc. Everybody's Farm has enlisted Mr. Canarie to market the remaining 74 acres of farmland at the U.S. 42 and Tylersville Road property. The land is zoned for retail, office and industrial use.

Council to consider urban development bond

Cincinnati City Council's finance committee is expected to consider a $7.2 million urban development bond issue to help fund Towne Properties' make-over of the Shillito Building downtown.

An ordinance approving the bond issue likely will be on the committee's agenda Nov. 3. Council approved the project in September and is expected to authorize the bond issue.

The Shillito Lofts project, at 151 W. Seventh St., eventually will transform the 814,000-square-foot building into a modernized residential, office and retail property. The $10.5 million residential part of the project would create at least 98 apartments in about 178,000 square feet.

Cabot taps Hemmer for N.Ky. project

Cabot Industrial Trust has tapped Paul Hemmer Construction Co. of Fort Mitchell to build a 219,000-square-foot inventory - bulk distribution center on Kentucky Drive in Northern Kentucky Industrial Park in Boone County.

Cabot, which owns about 2 million square feet of industrial space in the Tristate, commissioned the building with plans to lease it. The building in the 1,331-acre industrial park is expected to be completed in the spring. As of Tuesday, no tenants have signed for the space.

Tom Powers, senior vice president with CB Richard Ellis, represented Cabot in the construction deal. Mr. Powers and CB's Jeff Bender are the property's leasing agents.

Hemmer sells land, building to Dynatec

Dynatec Machine Inc., an auto supplier near Florence, has bought land and a building in Boone County's Turfway Business Park.

Paul Hemmer Construction sold the property -- about 2.2 acres and a 20,000-square-foot building -- to Dynatec for more than $800,000. The deal included a 4,000-square-foot expansion of the existing building.

Matthew Franks of Cline Realtors represented Dynatec, which has 25 employees. Paul Hemmer's Mark Scheper represented the construction company.
