Sex-ed protest planned

Thursday, October 29, 1998

A local radio talk-show host is planning a noon rally Friday outside Cincinnati City Hall to protest a sex-education plan being developed by the Ohio Department of Education and Department of Health. (STORY)

Tina Hall, a mother of two who works for WKRC-AM (550), says she aims to prevent "X-rated classrooms" offered in the Ohio Model Competency-Based Program in Health and Physical Education.

Gov. George Voinovich halted action on the program last week and ordered a review.

The program, funded in part by the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, includes various sexual aids among classroom props.

"All I want is a debate on the content of education," Ms. Hall said. "I want a national debate, I want public hearings, I want legislative investigations into all of this garbage."

Ms. Hall has invited dozens of local lawmakers and educators to the rally.
