Lecture series features famous women

Thursday, November 19, 1998

"Unique Lives and Experiences," one of the nation's top women's lecture series, is coming to Cincinnati's Aronoff Center early next year.

The series will feature lectures by actors Mary Tyler Moore and Lauren Bacall, civil rights activist Coretta Scott King, television personality Lesley Stahl and poet Maya Angelou.

Founded in 1992, "Experiences" was one of the first of its kind in the "talk-theater" concept. Its stated aim is to meet the women's demands for intelligent entertainment and meaningful issue-driven discussion. It is produced in a dozen North American cities, and Cincinnati is one of three additions for the 1999 season.

The dates:

  • Ms. Moore, "Thoroughly Modern Mary," Jan. 27.

  • Ms. Bacall, "My Life, My Career," Feb. 25.

  • Ms. King, "A Dream Deferred," March 9.

  • Ms. Stahl, "Sixty Minutes on 60 Minutes," April 12.

  • Ms. Angelou, "An Evening with Maya Angelou," May 3.

Each lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. and will include a question-and-answer session.

Early-bird tickets, which go on sale Monday, range from $99 to $189 for the five shows.

After Jan. 1, prices will be between $109 and $199.

Information: 241-7469.
